Kim, my daughter, is the guilty party who showed me how to make a necklace. We went to Walmart and I bought $5 worth of "turquoise" beads and headed back to her house, where she talked me though making my first bracelet. Wow! I made it myself! We had no idea what was waiting for me in my little Pandora's Box of creativity.
At the time, I was working as an interior designer for Star Lumber, helping folks choose the carpet, tile, and flooring for their new homes.
Some of the other designers were already beading necklaces. I had women to share my ideas with. We spent a few Sunday afternoons beading, laughing, and sharing ideas. What fun!
I soon became in demand at Star, providing jewelry for my co-workers to give as birthday gifts and Christmas presents. They like the idea that my jewelry was original. Their gifts became more special. And I had fun doing it.
That was several years back and here I am, still making jewelry and still loving it.
My latest collection includes what I call Vintage & Contemporary Fusion jewelry. On a trip to Chicago, I bought a couple of vintage brooches at a cute little antique mall. I used one of them as a pendant for a necklace and... voila', a new necklace idea was born. And I still make necklaces using all new materials.
